With an abundance of caution during Coronavirus world health emergency, Web3D 2020 Conference dates have been postponed to 14-16 November 2020. Location remains Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. This allows time for world events to unfold.

Web3D members and working groups had multiple presentations and workshops in December 2019. Work on collaboration, networking, and semantic search are all building on the emerging capabilities of X3D version 4.

Web3D Consortium member Vicomtech has been working to support volume rendering on the Web platform in any browser. MIRROR4ALL by Vicomtech uses DICOM Slices. This implementation is the construction of the density data from DICOM slices. Try this application, just drag and drop your DICOM images. As a contributor to the X3DOM open source library Vicomtech is helping to transition the X3D standard into the Web HTML5 ecosystem.

We are seeing an explosion of interactive 3D content on the Web with WebGL now widely supported by browsers, tools such as X3D, X3DOM, X_ITE, three.js, glTF, and A-Frame. Today, anyone can create Web3D content for virtual any domain or application. Commercial game engines such as Unity, Unreal, and Castle3D offer more ways to integrate open specifications and Standard formats in their applications.
